Our role in SharePoint projects spans information design, business process review and recommendation, as well as actual implementation of SharePoint portals and team site collections. We help develop effective, collaborative intra- and extra-net sites and work with internal IT departments to ensure smooth implementation and ongoing support.

Content strategy encompasses the “what” and the “how” for the content portion of your SharePoint site. Information Design is the art and science of organizing content so it can be used efficiently and effectively. We start by looking at your messaging and reviewing the categories and sub-categories of information. We establish a "network of content," determining levels of information and interdependencies across levels of information. From this we can then match each store of information to the appropriate SharePoint content container. We will augment out-of-the-box with custom columns, views, content types, etc. to create a toolset for managing content that is organized, flexible, searchable, and easy to maintain moving forward.

In this phase, we establish a "look and feel" for the SharePoint site that is memorable, accessible, and easy-to-use. By maintaining design consistency with imagery, typography, color palette and graphic treatments, our designs present your essential information without distraction. We work within the constraints of the SharePoint environment ensuring ongoing ease of maintenance. Using the SharePoint guidelines we’ll develop the related style sheets, images, templates, and page layouts to create your own branded skin that is applied throughout the SharePoint implementation.

Starting with SharePoint’s built-in content approval and workflow, we will work with you to determine strategies for each of your areas of content – from CMS-style page content to web part lists to document libraries. This results in a “best practices” approach to managing content and the associated permissions. As more complicated approvals and routing are required, workflow can be added to formalize more of the content publishing process.

Implementation is where it all happens. We develop Master Page Templates and customize themes and CSS to implement the Portals and Team Sites. We work with internal staff to develop User Manuals for both end users and site administrators to ensure an active environment that is owned by end users. Whether it's new design, extending the scope of features or administrative help desk functions, we provide ongoing support to ensure that your SharePoint investment continues to keep pace with organizational needs.

Some of the tangible artifacts from SharePoint projects include Master Page Templates and Custom Style Sheets. In addition, we can provide custom User Documentation to ensure that all stakeholders in the project, including content contributors and administrators, are trained and able to maintain the site.
