We the People: Public Art for the Inauguration and Beyond

On Inauguration Day, "We the People" plan to flood Washington, DC with art and new symbols of HOPE. One of the artist involved in the project is Shepard Fairey, the now famous man who made the iconic Barack Obama "Hope" poster that we all remember so well from eight years ago. The artwork was commissioned by the Amplifier Foundation, an art machine for social change, and will show up in newspapers as well as large placards given away at DC metro stations and from the back of moving vans. In addition, as of Thursday, free downloads of the posters are available for individual printing and sharing. The art is meant to spark a conversation and the group's work will continue long after Inauguration Day. What does "We the People" mean in the 21st century? A good question indeed. --SD

Wireflows: A UX Deliverable for Workflows and Apps

The expression "Use a picture. It's worth a thousand words." first appeared in a 1911 newspaper article quoting newspaper editor Tess Flanders discussing journalism and publicity. In the world of UI design, this point couldn't be more relevant. UI designers spend countless hours using a variety of visual tools to capture flow, navigation, layout and function. Interaction is one of the trickier designs to show. And that's exactly where wireflows (wireframes + flowcharts) come in.

Learn from the experts at NN/g. Wireflows are a combination of wireframes and flowcharts. They can document workflow and screen designs when there are few pages that change dynamically. --CD
