Tis' the Season

December 1, 2017

Forget #BlackFriday and #CyberMonday — It’s #GivingTuesday!

Amid the season of immense spending, we take the opportunity to highlight our favorite causes for your consideration. Here’s where our hearts are:

Cathy’s Pick — The Bail Project

The Bail Project is an unprecedented national effort to combat mass incarceration by keeping tens of thousands of Americans out of pretrial detention. With your help, within five years, we will establish 40 sites across the country with the goal of paying bail for 160,000 people over that period.

Doug’s Pick — uAspire

uAspire works to ensure that all young people have the financial information and resources necessary to find an affordable path to – and through – a postsecondary education.

Jasmine’s Pick — Girls Who Code

Girls Who Code was founded with a single mission: to close the gender gap in technology. We're building the largest pipeline of future female engineers in the United States.

Joe’s Pick — Alameda Education Foundation

Our mission is to engage the community, raise funds and coordinate programs to support and enhance the quality of K-12 public education in Alameda. We are made up of parents, educators, business leaders and members of the community.

Ruth’s Pick — Make-a-Wish Greater Bay Area

We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medicalconditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Sally’s Pick — Ella Baker Center for Human Rights

We are named after Ella Baker, a brilliant, Black hero of the civil rights movement. Following in her footsteps, we organize with Black, Brown, and low-income people to shift resources away from prisons and punishment and towards opportunities that make our communities safe, healthy, and strong.

Tony’s Pick — Semper Fi Fund

Semper Fi Fund provides immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to post 9/11 combat wounded, critically ill and catastrophically injured members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. We deliver the resources they need during recovery and transition back to their communities, working to ensure no one is left behind.
