World Bank to End Financial Support for Oil and Gas Extraction

Score 1 for Mother Earth! The World Bank announced it will no longer provide financial support for oil and gas extraction after 2019 in a move inspired by the growing threat posed by climate change. In our rapidly changing world, the bank sees a need to change its operations. With this announcement, the Bank sends "a damning vote of no confidence in the future of the fossil fuel industry." This is a historic announcement and one that has been decades in the making. Well done, World Bank!

Storm King Show to Focus on Climate Change in 2018

Storm King Art Center, named for its proximity to Storm King Mountain an hour north of Manhattan, is an open-air museum containing perhaps the largest collection of contemporary outdoor sculptures in the country. The site spans approximately 500 acres and a special exhibition in 2018 will tackle a hot topic: yep, climate change.

“Indicators: Artists on Climate Change,” opens in May 2018 and includes work from more than a dozen artists. The idea with the exhibit is "not just to sound a warning, but to spark conversation about real strategies for how people will live in an altered climate."

One of the contributing artists, Mary Mattingly, is the founder of Swale, a floating food forest on a barge that toured New York City last summer, letting visitors harvest fresh produce for free.

Artist will work with curators to choose locations for their works. With 500 acres, there will be room for all!
